Southern California Dui Count For Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day marks the day where we remember those who have lost their lives serving in the Armed Forces. It is often synonymous with an extended weekend, barbeques, and drinks. California law enforcement began their lookout on Friday, May 24th hoping to arrest drunk drivers. The numbers are out and they certainly did.

According the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, 529 people were arrested in Los Angeles County for driving under the influence. The arrests occurred between 12:01 a.m. on Friday, May 24th and midnight on Sunday, May 27th.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 35 people were arrested for DUI in Orange County between 6:01 p.m. of Friday, May 24th and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28th.

Between 6:01 p.m. on Friday, May 24th and 6 a.m. on Monday, May 27th, 55 arrests were made in San Diego County according California Highway Patrol.

The California Highway Patrol also reported that there were 15 fatalities and 1,133 DUI arrests statewide over the weekend.

The arrests in Los Angeles County were made during the “Avoid the 100 Los Angeles County DUI Campaign,” which involved officers representing 100 law enforcement agencies.
